ESSAGE
Much has occurred since the last edition of WesternU View, and much lies ahead as our University
continues to evolve and grow.
A celebratory Convocation and Presidential Inauguration in August was followed by the launch in
early September of the WesternU Center for Innovation, under the leadership of health care
entrepreneur, inventor and author Nicholas Webb. The Center promises to harness the energy and
ideas of countless WesternU students and staff in pursuit of disruptive advancements in technology that
will act as game-changers in health professions education and health care.
Meanwhile, the University has embarked on a Strategic Planning process to identify and take
substantive action in areas of opportunity academic, operational and philanthropic. The emergent
Strategic Plan, combined with a new 30-year Campus Master Plan document
that suggests how our institution might accommodate physical change and
programmatic expansion, offers an optimistic road map to what
WesternU could become. Mission-driven focus, embrace of
innovation, and enduring commitment to nimble entrepreneurship
remain our essential assets.
All of these topics, and many more, are covered in this Fall
edition of WesternU View. I assure you that these pages will justify
your investment of time and interest.
