Health care at

WesternU

Patient centered, student focused

By Rodney Tanaka

The Patient Care Centers (PCC) at Western University of Health
Sciences offer unique opportunities for students to learn hands-on
clinical skills. Our new leadership at the clinics at WesternU strives
to expand and deepen the student experience while also providing
excellent patient care to the community.
College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific Assistant Professor
Robert Warren, DO ’01, serves as the new Executive Director
for Patient Care Centers/Chief of Clinical Integration. COMP
Associate Professor Stephanie White, DO, is the new Chief
Medical Officer.

“The clinics of WesternU are an important touch point,” Warren said.
“We offer a wide array of clinical rotations and we are one of the first
stops for WesternU students who need health services.
“We have an amazing group of clinicians and educators representing all
of clinical services –dentistry, optometry, pharmacy, podiatry, nursing,
health sciences, research and medical,” Warren continued. “Each of
those services have plans to enhance their work and cultivate further
integration in order to produce a comprehensive health care
experience for our patients and our students.”
Warren helped launch a unique interprofessional noon conference,
where everyone in the PCC is invited to discuss clinical topics that
relate across disciplines. “We invite faculty, staff and students to
participate in a discussion that allows people to get to know each
other and share ideas,” he said. “Relationships are key – knowing each
other, knowing what we’re capable of, and having mutual respect.”
