VERITAS

By Shaahin Dadjoo, DMD ’20

The search for veritas is a lifelong endeavor,
At each of life’s turnings a new branch is discovered,
Each autumn a new color,
Each spring a new flower,
The search for veritas is never over.

Though you walk quietly amongst the warriors
You yourself are the strength they seek
Your body is here in this moment and place
But your heart lies deeper
without time without space.

In the meadows you will find your true self
Sitting, contemplating how the forces controlling an apple’s fall
Contribute to your revolutions around a fiery ball.

It’s not the reflection you greet in the bathroom mirror
Not the name you provide as social fodder
Not your house, not your car, not your mother or father

You are you
The tradition forgotten,
The passages lost
The words twisted like fiber

Free yourself of advertisement thinking
Like a fish swimming in water,
Dive deeper and travel farther.
Tap into the Earth and look up at the Moon,
Spread your wings and leave the shore!
The sea is endless, the world is yours.

Remind yourself, your gift is infinite
An artist forever, true as the love of a mother.
When you look up and your Beloved shines down on you
Remember,
The search for truth begins within you.
