MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN
Graduate College of
Biomedical Sciences
The College is maturing, and its overall goal is to become a
major component of Western University of Health Sciences
in the formation of the next generation of health care
professionals, be they direct practitioners, scientists, or
participants in the overall health care industry. To reach this
goal, the College needs to grow and expand its different
programs.
GCBS is planning an extension of its masters programs and
the creation of new and innovative PhD and post-doctoral
programs, which will serve the needs of all the Colleges,
including WesternU-Lebanon. The major goals of the
program extension are to:
1. Expand existing graduate programs (MSBS and MSMS)
and create new and innovative PhD and post-doctoral
programs in Translational Health Sciences (THS) to
enhance research, education and innovation on both
Michel Baudry, PhD the Pomona and the Lebanon campuses.
2. Attract and retain excellent faculty, representative of
the full-spectrum of scientific expertise, to cover a
broad range of biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences.
3. Attract highly qualified graduate students.
4. Produce MS and PhD graduates, and train post-doctoral
fellows, who are recognized for their scientific
excellence, technical skills, ethical character,
humanistic nature and leadership abilities.
5. Establish a strong relationship between the College and
all external constituencies (alumni, adjunct faculty,
prospective donors, pharmaceutical/biotechnology
companies, and potential partners).
